the KHUTI FOUNDATION
History
The Khuti Foundation was established by Lucille Wood and Di Lucas, Directors of Gita International Yoga, in Melbourne, Australia, in 1986. Realizing that the answers to most of the world's problems lay in the education and understandings that the yogic wisdom teachings provide, they wanted to bring these understandings to the wider world.
"Whenever we have travelled and seen a need, we have publicised it back to Gita and endeavoured to help"
Thus Khuti has supported various projects in Egypt, Bali and Australia. In every case we have been able to deliver the support personally to where it is needed. This way we are sure 100% of donations go to the projects. Which projects to support is decided by the Directors, and the info is shared with Gita members and students. Mostly the projects are chosen because there is some form of direct contact - e.g.. a visit to a school or orphanage, or because someone we know is involved and able to give us an 'on site' view of the needs.
Recognising that this would be impossible to finance on their own, they set up the Khuti Foundation as a philanthropic organisation, to receive donations or goods to act as an avenue for giving and sharing with others.
In this way, those who were unable to access the teachings in other ways, would still be able to learn and grow.
As a consequence, the Khuti Foundation has provided scholarships; drug and alcohol recovery classes; books and DVDs for prisoners, remand centres, and women's refuges; lectures; and other tangible support in many diverse ways.
