Orphanage in Alexandria

In Alexandria, up on the Mediterranean coast we became aware of a large house/villa where 30 frail elderly and incontinent adults, and a similar number of very damaged, abandoned children, mostly the results of failed abortions existed in extreme poverty.

The children were capable of learning but lacked the stimulation and guidance to learn for themselves.

With the support of several other groups, a program was organised to regularly provide the children with physiotherapy and massage treatment to improve their motor skills.

This enabled some of the children to become less dependent and fearful of the world around them...

One child was able to learn to feed herself, which provided some much needed respite for her carers, who were utterly exhausted with the work load.
